DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ! We have stopped here loads of times without issue, until recently. This last time its changed, the towels smelt of cigarette smoke! Asked to change them, which they did but the were the same. Was told then they couldn't do anything, so we emailed the Hotel and Agoda to complain and get a resolution. Neve got a reply and currently in a dispute over it. Don't bother going here, rooms are a bit tired now also. They told Agoda we changed rooms, but that wasn't so. Agoda aren't interested in helping either.

The was big and beautiful and the location was perfect. The breakfast was a 10/10, not much food but the quality was very good. The pool wasn’t the nicest but that has nothing to say when you are in Bangkok. The staff was ok. The aircondition was good.

I've stayed at Hotel Mermaid several times over the past five years. I'm impressed by how well maintained the rooms are. I stayed four nights in a "studio room" (cheapest room), room 507. Bed was very comfy, not too hard or too soft. TV was a bit small for the room but had many English channels. There were two IKEA type chairs for lounging, and a desk for working. Bathroom was very clean and had plenty of hot water. AC was cool and quiet. Standard kettle and small fridge. Safe box was big enough to fit my 17" laptop, not that I felt the need to lock away my valuables. Staff were professional and efficient. Swimming pool was open but looked like it was under repair, not too relaxing with construction of a high rise building next door. Location was good, an easy walk to the main road, but a bit of a longer walk to either Asoke or Phrom Phong BTS stations. I'll stay here again, for sure, if I need to be in this part of Sukhumvit.

The room is large and equipped with everything you would need. However, the walls are thin and there's a lot of noise coming from adjacent rooms (even when the guests are talking, not screaming), which is not really acceptable for a 4-star hotel. There's also a pool but it's unattended and there is no way you could get drinks or anything else when sitting there. It's just a pool that looks thrown at the backside of the hotel, to say that they do have a pool.

Chosen for its location on Sukhumvit Road the Mermaid was found to be right in the middle of the action. The corner room we were allocated was spacious and bright with a huge bathroom and comfy bed. Sadly though the hotel's general infrastructure was poorly maintained. Shabby corridors, dirty lift and the tiny pool lacked care and maintenance and there was a smell of sewage. With the exception of a committed and attentive doorman the rest of the staff were uninterested and rather demotivated. The art of the Thai smile has been lost here.
